Unfortunately, for a very long time there was always a personal and social stigma tied to buying clothes for big and tall men. Many people considered shoppers in these stores “fat” and “unhealthy” and that is why so many men avoided them.

Fortunately, that stigma is no longer around, and things are just so much different. That’s because the clothing sizes have shifted enough that people who were considered “normal” just a few years ago have now been designated as “big and tall.” This means that department stores and “normal” retailers are more likely to carry these clothing sizes, and that more designers are likely to design clothing for it as well. We’ll share some very helpful dressing tips that will keep you looking sharp in big and tall clothing. By the way, I lost just over three inches off of my waist in the last month by using the AthLEAN X program. You should check it out, it’s excellent.

Don’t ignore the specialty retailers for big and tall men’s clothing. While few people like shopping in stores that carry this label, the fact of the matter is that there will be a wider selection in these stores than in department stores or small retail clothing stores. There are plenty of designers focusing on creating fashionable clothing to suit the larger sizes, so you’ll find there’s plenty of different styles to choose from. This means you have more choices than ever, as the specialty stores are carrying much broader varieties to suit every taste. Try to find clothing choices that offer a lower waistline. High waisted pants don’t really suit many people, which could be one reason why they aren’t readily available any longer. Try to choose pants that sit a bit lower down on the hips. These can help lengthen the look of your torso. Choose pants that sit just below the waist line. There’s also the risk of giving yourself a ‘muffin top’ appearance if you get pants that are too low cut down your hips.

Pick fabrics that will give your structure the support you need. Denim is a wise choice for many bigger men as this fabric can endure more weight than slacks or khaki pants. Denim can hold some of the weight in where lighter pants will do little more than cut off your circulation while emphasizing your curves. Choose your fabrics carefully. Lighter, flowy fabrics can often make you appear much larger than you are, even though they tend to breathe a little better in some cases.

So you see, there’s a lot you should think about if you’re buying in the big and tall men’s size group.

From how you shop to what you shop for, you have more options than ever before. People years ago never had so many options and selections that you now have. Well, that’s it – now you need to go shopping armed with your new knowledge, and be sure to enjoy it – you’ll look fabulous in your smartly selected clothes.
